Turmeric Gold Organic

£2.75

Golden milk has been made in Indian kitchens for centuries: turmeric gently warmed with milk and spices into a fragrant, golden cup. This is my take on it, and one of the most-loved blends I make. Turmeric on its own can taste rather earthy, so I have built it around warming chai spices to bring it to life: cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, fennel and a little pepper, with liquorice and apple for natural sweetness and cocoa shells for a gentle depth.

There are two lovely ways to drink it. You can steep it like any other infusion, for a bright, spiced golden cup. Or, and this is how I love it best, make golden milk the traditional way: warm a mug or two of milk (dairy or plant) in a small pan, add a couple of teaspoons of the blend, and let it barely simmer for ten minutes or so before straining. It comes out like a grown-up hot chocolate, spiced and comforting; I sweeten mine with a little local honey, though that is very much down to taste.

It is naturally caffeine-free, so it is a drink for any time of day, right through to the evening; the sort of warm, comforting cup I reach for when I want something cosy and a little kind to myself. It has become a real favourite, one of those blends people come back for.

Brew at 100°C for at least 6 minutes as an infusion, or make it into golden milk as above.

Amazing gourmand scrumptious tea

I love this tea, so comforting, tastes great by itself and with honey. It's so great for the winter.

A great way to get healthy ingredients.

We tried this at our daughter's and were surprised how many good ingredients it contained and the benefits they bring. Plus we both enjoyed the taste, only adding a little honey or even milk. We will definitely order again and maybe try a different tea as well.
