Honeybush Organic
If you love rooibos, let me introduce its cousin. Honeybush comes from the same corner of the world, the fynbos of South Africa, and from a close botanical relative: a shrub called Cyclopia. Like rooibos, it is not a tea at all but a naturally caffeine-free infusion, so it is a lovely thing to reach for in the evening.
The name is well earned. Honeybush takes it from the sweet, honey-like scent of its little yellow flowers, and that gentle sweetness carries right through to the cup. It brews to a smooth, rusty-red liquor, a touch rounder and more mellow than rooibos, with soft woody notes and a natural honeyed sweetness. There is nothing added here; this is simply organic honeybush, and all the sweetness is the plant's own.
Being naturally caffeine-free, it is happy at any time of day, right through to bedtime, and it is refreshingly low-maintenance: no bitterness however long you leave it, and no need for milk unless you fancy it. Have it plain to let the honey notes sing, or with a drop of milk or a little honey if you like.
Brew at 100°C for 4 minutes.
